Almond Butter Jelly Time

PB and jelly. One of my all time favourite combinations. 

These days, peanuts aren't heavy in my rotation.  Though delicious as heck, peanuts are often carriers of a dangerous mold called alfatoxin, a liver hating carcinogen. If you struggle with hormonal imbalance or peanut butter regularly it's nice to switch it up with some of the many alternatives that are available such as almond, cashew, walnut, sunflower or pumpkin seed butters. If you haven't tried one or any of these, I highly recommend. You'll also get a wider variety of nutrients and omega 3's when you switch it up.  So good! 

This smoothie makes me happy. It will fill your belly and leave you feeling pleasantly satisfied for hours- we can thank the brain supporting healthy fats from the nuts for that perk!  

AB & Jelly Smoothie Recipe:

  • 2 cups of water or unsweetened dairy-free milk of your choice, I like coconut milk

  • 1 cup frozen berries

  • 1/2 a banana

  • 2 tbsp nut butter or your choice

  • sprinkle of cinnamon

  • optional: a scoop of vanilla (or chocolate) plant-based protein powder

Blend together and enjoy!
