Sexy Maca Hot Chocolate

sexy maca hot chocolate

It’s mid-February and LOVE is in the air.

In the name of romance and in the spirit of feeling like the sexiest versions of our badass selves, I wanted to share an extra HOT hot chocolate recipe with you.

It is my hope that this recipe will “spark joy” for you… because let’s face it, chocolate makes us happy. Chocolate actually does contain a bit of tryptophan which is used to make the feel-good neurotransmitter, serotonin. It also contatins an amino acid called phenylethylalanine which promotes feelings of attraction, excitement and is “associated with the initial euphoria of falling in love”. The chocolate used in this recipe is raw cacao, chocolate in its purest, healthiest form— chalked full of free-radical and heart protective antioxidants.

What gives this recipe an extra “boost” is the addition of maca. If you haven’t tried maca before, you are going to love the creamy and nutty flavour that meshes so deliciously well with chocolate. Maca is a Peruvian herb— acutally, it’s a cruciferous vegetable..like broccoli or cauliflower and it’s well-known for giving us a stamina boost and for also sparking the libido! It’s an adaptogen which means it helps our bodies adapt to stress and is a natural hormone regulator. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that imbalanced hormones are often causative factors behind stubborn body fat, acne, irregular periods, hair-loss, insomnia and energy issues.

Anyways, let’s make some feel-good hot chocolate, shall we?

Here’s what you do:

Cue: Love to Love You Baby
Add everything to a blender and blend well.
Please be very careful blending hot liquid!
** Alternatively, I have made this on the stove top and used a hand-blender to give it a nice frothy feel.**
Pour into your favorite mug, garnish with extra cinnamon, and heck, you can even slip into something a little more comfortable… and enjoy.

Note: this recipe is best enjoyed and most effective if sipped on without thinking about work or your current to-do list. Bliss out, babe! You deserve it.

Happy Valentine’s Day to YOU.
